Kong Sarang Tofu & BBQ Reviews

Came here for sunday lunch. There were quite a lot of people. Seating was spacious. The floor felt greasy. We got the spicy rice cake (#1) and the tofu soup. The rice cake was not what I expected to be -- it was more soupy than I expected, and it tasted just ok. The fish cake was a bit too salty, the sauce(broth) was a bit bland. I would not recommend. The tofu soup was better. The rice that came with the tofu soup was served first, and the soup was served after a few mins. My dining experience would have been better if both were server the same time. Banchan was plenty and they were ok. The eggplant was the best.

Stopped by this place for a late lunch with the hubby and realized they had just opened that month. Our expectations were a bit mediocre since we know Korean food in Fremont doesn't hit the same as Santa Clara/Cupertino - but when we walked in and saw the Korean man serving up sizzling, spicy, & delish smelling food - had to admit our expectations went up a bit. The restaurant is fair size and super casual, pretty much a hole in the wall, mom & pop shop - which is the best for legit Asian comfort food. We went in at a really odd time (I think around 3pm) so it was not busy at all, and were seated right away. Food talk: (1) Comp. Banchan (side dishes) - came out quick and with SOOO MANNYYY OPTIONS, legit didn't even finish a round bc there were so much yummy variety. (2) Beef Tofu Soup - came out piping hot and bubbly (as it should), got medium spicy which was the perfect kick. Great flavor and good amount of meat. (3) Galbi - this was tasty, the meat was juicy and the sauce was lighter than other places, which I actually liked since it wasn't too sweet. (4) Spicy Chicken - this was something SPECIAL! It's hard to find spicy chicken at most Korean restaurants from our experience, and this came out SOOOO SPICY. Delish for sure, but that heat def. hit hardddd - totally worth the pain though if you can handle the heat (lol)

I recently came here with some friends for the first time because we were all craving some soup for the cold weather. We arrived around 5pm and there weren't too many people in the restaurant, so we were able to sit down right away. First of all, they give a very generous amount of side dishes and they all tasted so good. My friends & I all ordered the dumpling tofu soup (but I got mine with ramen) and it was perfect for the cold weather. We also ordered the corn cheese appetizer and we were able to finish the entire plate, it was THAT good. I appreciated that they didn't rush us out of the restaurant even though it started getting more busy. I will be recommending this place to my friends and I would definitely come back if I was in the area :)

The food was pretty good. I got the combination tofu soup. It was about $20. The soup I noticed had quite a bit of seafood: mussel, class, and a few shrimp. They are a lot generous with their protein. And they banchan is pretty darn tasty - liked all of them. The service is nice and ran by 3 folks when I was there. They are very welcoming and super nice. The place has a lot of parking outside so I wouldn't worry, however still have the rule of not leaving vauables in your car. The restaurant itself can house your group of friends with ease.

Spacious location for a family friendly restaurant. I enjoyed the short ribs and tofu soup. I usually go for a mild spice in my tofu soup, but I was feeling under the weather so I went for the spicy. I was delightfully, surprised that the broth was still savory without the spice. Side dishes are great, you can tell the fish cake as a hit because they offered to refill everything else besides my fish cake haha they ran out for the evening.

This has become my new go-to Korean restaurant since it opened. I usually order takeout, but did dine in for a few times and they always give many banchans and they are always flavorful! Grilled pork belly is my favorite dish from there, every time it comes with perfect grilled texture. Next is the seafood tofu soup, very flavorful soup with lots of soft tofu and assorted seafood. They also have a combo with Galbi and cold noodle, perfect combination to enjoy both the juicy meat and clear cold soup to balance it out. Service has always been quick and everyone works there seems enjoying working there. It gets really busy during peak lunch and dinner hours but it never gets too loud, but it's still better to go early and beat the crowds!

This place hits the spot if you are craving for warm soup. I ordered their beef tofu soup. The soup had the right amount of spiciness. The highlight was the Bossam. It was really good! I've had bossam before but this restaurant added oysters to their kimchi. It tasted so fresh and yummy. If you don't like oysters , then this dish isn't for you. The dish was nicely plated. I will come here again with friends as this entree is best fit for sharing among 3-4 people.

My friend was in town and she was craving Korean food but we were too lazy to go to Bob Sang lol We found this place while google searching so figured we would check it out. Located in Newark in the same complex as Special Noodle and Feng Cha. On a weekend night we still found plenty of parking right up front. The restaurant is covered in glass, which was nice to see how busy the restaurant was. It was also big, good for big parties. It wasn't busy when we got there but did get busy as the night went on. We got seated and our orders were taken fairly quickly. The menu had a huge variety of Korean food, I think there is something for everyone. Prices were normal for the bay, but dinner prices are high so I would try to go to lunch next time. We got bibimbap, tofu soup, bulgogi, galbi, popcorn chicken, and banchan for the table. After getting our food we quickly realized we got too excited and ordered too much. lol Everything was delicious, everyone was happy with all the food and the banchan. We were actually surprised with how good the popcorn chicken was. Too bad we were just all too full to finish everything. Plenty of leftovers for the next day. The staff were attentive with refilling our waters and getting us the check. Overall solid Korean food spot, will try to avoid dinner but will go again!

Finally found a really good and authentic Korean restaurant in Newark. All the Banchan are delicious and plentiful. We ordered Combo of Galbi and Seafood Tofu Soup. Galbi was tasty. Tofu soup really has the kick. Finally tasted a true spicy soup. Delicious! Then Seafood Pancake. Fresh, thick yet crunchy! Good combination. Everything hit the right spot. You must ask for complimentary tea. Standard is a jug of cold water. Rice only white. Wish they have purple rice. More tasty. The price is on the expensive side. Otherwise it a true 5 star restaurant. The aunties are very friendly and attentive. Quick service. Located at the corner of the plaza with plenty of tables. Medium to large size place with typical modern Korean restaurant. Definitely will be back when craving for a good Korean food in the area. Wish the price is more reasonable.
